Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska fired back Friday at the unnamed McCain campaign aides who have been maligning her in recent days, saying that their criticism was "cruel" and "immature".

Immature...but her calling them Jerks thats ok!
- 29 votes
Palin all but admits to the allegations, ... by calling her acusers jerks!! Every man knows that when you're dealing with a histrionic, unintellectual female, .... they always call you a jerk when you tell the truth .... a) to them , ... and b) on them!! If you read every response Palin gave, ... you know for a fact that she has no idea that Africa is not a country; or the remotest clue of the members of the north american free trade agreement!!
- 35 votes
Sexy Mike & truthis,
Whether or not you guys are jerks is for others in this discussion to decide. As far as Palin calling those 'unnamed' McCain staffers 'jerks' she is absolutely 'spot on'!!
Take a chill pill folks. The election's over. Think of something positive to say about your Victory!
- 29 votes
Ms. Palin said. “And that’s cruel and it’s mean-spirited, it’s immature, it’s unprofessional, and those guys are jerks, if they came away with it taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It is not fair and not right."And everything she said about Obama. - outright lies and out of context comments .. all the PUBLIC lies in her campaign stops were OK? And this idiot would have been a heartbeat away! ... the vote and polls said it all.. Most of this country did not want a totally unqualified person as our potential leader!
As to the post above about "chill" .. she is making it continual news.. front page no less.. "if you do not understand the mistakes of the past - you are doomed to repeat them" ... and she is reminding us of the mistake McCain made in choosing her.. he lost so many of the independents like me...
On tv.. she says now Obama had makeup put on by someone.. Ahhh Sarah .. that is not a shopping spree at the public trough ... not even close... she proves how unprepared she would have been by continuing to address this (now) non-issue .. in a "nanny, nanny, booboo" 8th grade manner... thank the LORD that the American voters understood what she is.. and responded accordingly.

this is why I hope my children never go into politics. too much junk to deal with!
oh, and about the Africa comment? (I believe she was goofing off with the preppers and kidding about it,,or slip of tongue) You know, our President-elect said that there were 57 states in the USA. So, did he really think that? Was he remembering 57 Islamic states? or...was it just a slip, plain and simple?
- 22 votes
As recently as yesterday our president elect made disparaging innuendo's about one of our former first ladies. But that's ok since ya know she is a Republican and 86 years old.
The election is over, we have a new President Elect, let's stop the bickering now and get down to business. Let's all stop the divisiveness and put our Congressmen/women's feet to the fire and get some work done. None of this other stuff is important, unless we make it so.
So what if she is po'ed she actually has a right to be, the media was brutal to her and not to the dems. But that's ok, that's politics, I guess. Our enemies must be loving our being divided and the saddest part is we are feeding it. So let's just stop, we have more important things to worry about than what Sarah Palin is wearing, saying or doing now.

Does MSNBC and CNN have nothing else to talk about. The media are jerks and coming from anchors/reporters/matthews/keith whatever...are sitting there in company clothing and company stylist and company makeup....hello. I say Palin go after them. As for these anonymous sources...please. Where are these same biased reporters and anchors going after the black Obama supporter in the Ohio government screening "Joe's" confidential records and leaking them to the media. Why isn't news worthy? His only crime was asking a question. Which one of ya'll will be next?
- 14 votes
The media needs to give it a rest..they have been tearing Palin apart since she came on the sceen..they have been hammering her...what there doing now is like spitting on someones grave it's absolulely a desacration.....so I say that the media are the jerks too and immature...ok you got your canidate to win, media.. you did it with your one sided twisted liberal agenda...so I have turned off my tv especially to that stupid CNN and I woun't listen to their ranting and ravings any more.....did mccain make some mistakes..yes and so did O but nothing was mentioned about O's mistakes..heck we don't even know yet if he's eligible to be president of the US since he has NEVER produced a birth cert for all to see...why did the judge choose to seal that info..he must be a Dem......so Country because you choose to listen to this liberal media...you got yourself a liberal as they come president...hers sticking it to us for the next 4 years...a little celebration and crying and jumping up and down and fainting and reveb...lets see how far that goes when the sh-- hits the fan........

Good question Terry, the one thing I learned from that ordeal was I don't want any democrats asking me any questions, I would run for the hills. Talk about Gustapo tactics.

And why is it that you people can not think that we - like you - make our own decisions... in your tight little world - only you are right and the majority vote is "influenced by the media" and your minority vote isn't?
It is so sad to see how blind you people are - who paint with so broad a brush .. that you spill it all over the surrounding area... so arrogant... and so wrong.. you will never come back to power - until you respect the rights of others to NOT agree with you .. and find a logical way to convince them TO agree... you insult ME and all thinking people by assuming the media or anyone else could influence my vote .. and you disgust us with your self righteous view that we are stupid ... but then again.. bet you will never understand that!
- 23 votes
Bob, I am going to assume that you did your homework, your research before you decided where to cast your vote. Perhaps you are an informed citizen and that is great. I would never assume to change anyones mind. Having said that the majority of voters DON'T do their homework, they don't do research, all they have is what they see in the media to base their vote. That's an unfortunate fact. Or they base their vote along party lines, or they base it on how the union tells them to vote, or on a familiar name.

The Watergate era progresses to democratic operatives in the campaigns. Safer that way.
Let us all be factual, Sarah Palin is simply an uneducated moron with no clue on SO MANY issues. She was used by the same Republicans who sold us Bush in 2000..Very similar..no ideas, profoundly uneducated and immensely ignorant. This time around, the people of this great country simply says, NO. She can complain all she wants, she should go back and study hard. And if she will be the Postal child of the republicans in 2012, then I am sure the GOP will have a long time to wander in the wilderness...That would be beautiful for this great country. THE GOP IS FALLEN, NEVER TO RISE AGAIN!!!
- 34 votes
Lis.. I can and you can only attest to what we do... that is what democracy is about .. you may be very correct.. but it makes no difference... we either have free media .. or a government media.. and at least there are both sides present in our free media.. both sides meaning they are biased media.. but each side is represented.. the sell advertising to make money .. so in an almost 50/50 `country .. you can rest assured both sides are there!
You forget though that many also "poll friends" or are influenced by the "church" or social organizations .. many sources.. and 2 choices.. we need more choices to really meet our countries diversity???? Perhaps now that the republican franchise is so weakened .. more will emerge?
- 9 votes
Dangit, stop making disparaging remarks about someone that you don't know and someone that you will never know. This is what I was talking about, I don't give a rat's behind if you like her or not, this kind of talk is uncalled for. Geeeeze no wonder our children have become so mean-spirited, it's because this is the kind of garbage they hear day in and day out. How about just being happy that Obama won, can you do that? I will support the President elect because that is what I was taught, to respect the man and the office regardless of my political affiliation.

LIZ.. on that we both agree
But this link is about the comments made NOW by her or anyone else... and she is keeping this alive by not doing what most professional pols do.. just ignoring the nonsense .. she is fueling the flames so to speak .. and sadly this I think is her way of proving her relevance.. now is not that time to do so.. now is the time to do what McCain is doing and get back to being a part of our government .. not a sore spot to it!

SEXISM! This election is biggest disappointment ever for me! First they killed Hillary and now they after Palin. JERKS! Sure it is all stupid women's foult. What did you achieve lately, gentlemens?
- 3 votes
Bob, I was in the media for 15 years, you can be sure that I know what I speak of, there is bias in the media, most especially the Big 3, NBC, ABC and CBS, they had their candidate, they made sure to do everything possible to make sure he was elected. Very seldom during the election did I see any negative media coverage for the Obama/Biden ticket, but it was certainly there for the McCain/Palin ticket, bias should not EVER be a part of the media coverage. They are to report not editorialize. It has most certainly gotten worse in recent years. The only media outlet I saw anything positive on the McCain/Palin ticket was FOX News and I only see that in passing, I've given up on mainstream media to give me any unbiased news other than what they choose for me.
As far as religion, I did not forget the influence that a pastor, minister, or the Pope has on their members, although I think they will listen, as do I, I make my own choice as an informed voter not because I am told to vote a certain way, I never vote party line, I vote issues. I wish more would do so.
- 9 votes
Bob, I do agree with you on that point, she should just go back to the job of being Governor of the great state of Alaska and leave the bickering and backbiting to the Washington Politicians. She's got work to do there.

Good going, Lis, and from reading some of the above bits of nonsense, I'd say morons are not solely an Alaska product. And gee, won't it be so much more comforting to know it's Joey Boy, and not Sarah, who's just a "heartbeat" away? Yessiree!

Don't let them give you crap Sara your the only reason I voted for them ,take that pole I bet there's a bunch of us out here take that pole...

Sarah Palin is a class act. The awful lies that the democrats invented about her stunk. No wonder not many real Americans want to take on the media and run for office. They take any bad, made up story and run it as if it were gospel.
- 13 votes
Most people would use a lot stronger language then the term "jerks".
- 12 votes
I've been to Alaska Joe, I can honestly say they are not morons. As a matter of fact they are the nicest people I have ever met. I've traveled across this great country of ours, there are good and bad everywhere, I'm seeing a whole lot of bad right here on this board though.
As far as Joe Biden being a "heartbeat" away from the Oval Office, I have no comment, my mama always told me, "if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing," so I am saying nothing.

I am with you. Perhaps it was wrong for the aides to express themselves in the way that they did, but more importantly, it once again demonstrates Palins' character. In my opinion, this is a perfect example of who could have been second in command. YIKES

there's a book called "Don't Let the Jerks Get the Best of You". Palin's critics used tactics right out of Saul Alinsky's book RULES FOR RADICALS Obama's handlers' bible.

Palin, I think, single handedly brought down the McCain team. He took a chance that just having a female would bring him in the votes. Obviously he doesn't think that the American voters are too smart. (maybe because Bush has been in the white house for 8 years) She and the rest of the campaign have gotten what was coming to them. Now she is back where she belongs, hopefully never to rear her ignorant head again in American politics. As for McCain, this is what you get when you think you can just throw America a female. We now have a highly educated, focused man who seems to be thoughtfully putting together a team to try and dig us out of this HUGE mess the present Leader, and I use that term loosely, has gotten us into. Let's just all hope that maybe we can once again rise up to be the nation we once were.....maybe even stronger.
- 19 votes
Dan, everything about Sarah, Sarah did to herself. Not the Democrats. Everytime Sarah opened her mouth, she proved herself a moron. The media didn't do it, and neither did the Dems. Frankly, they had a lot of ammo, and used none of it. If in doubt, revisit her interview with Katie Couic. She couldn't even take on dippy Katie! And who gives a "shout out" during a debate???!! When I was on the debate team in college, our coach would have killed us! So, please don't blame others....she did it to herself!

MoverandShaker - Of course you never hear about what the Democrats have bought with all the millions of dollars they received. HELLO - it's called media protectionism.
Obama is was afraid to acknowledge FoxNews at his first news conference. He kicked off those media news organizations from his plane that were not Pro-Obama. What do you THINK the American public will hear? Other than all oohs and aahs from the media? Please. Get real.
All Obama will allow is good news coverage. And that's all he'll get. And that's all you dumb-arse people will hear AND believe.

These aides were Obama plants. Didn't you see where they have secured employment with Obama??? It's just the same ole dirty politics. And Yeah! They are worse than jerks.....they are traitors. When you go to work for that person, you owe them your alligence. I can only hope that they will shoot there big mouth off when there up ther on capital hill.

Bob is right on!
When the Republicans took things Obama said out of context, said absolutely awful things about him (that we considered to be lies)--that is called, "good campaigning " or more disgusting, they call it facts. When Democrats tell the truth, it is considered, 'disrespectul.'Â
IF the Republicans didn't DO things that deserved to be called out by the media, their feelings wouldn't be so hurt and the media wouldn't have anything negative to report on them.
The Republicans continue to scare the electorate like some dictator to keep 'their people' in line. It is time for our country to have a democracy, not a one-sided Republic.

If they can't prove she said any of those things then you can choose to believe it or not. The fact that "they" won't give their names is cowardly. However given what we have seen of Palin it really is not a leap to guess that she probably actually had no idea Africa was a continent. In any event I am just so very glad she did not make it to the White House. She has proven herself to be clueless on so many other points that what she knows or does not know about Africa makes little difference.
- 4 votes
I think she was as divisive as she could possibly get. I think that is part of the reason for these attacks. The other reason being that these people are out to keep her from running for the White House.
- 3 votes
Also I think she was more just a walking billboard for what was already wrong with the GOP. They have been so divided that they no longer know where they stand as a group. Some have gone far right-wingnut crazy and the others look like bomb blast survivors because of it. LOL

What amazes me is that spending 150,000 + dollars on clothes is a story and an issue. We just got through withan election season where three canidates raised and spent over 1 Billion dollars. On top of that, Calf. had a Prop vote that both the For and Against groups  spent over 74 Million dollars on that one issue. This is what we should be outraged about.
- 5 votes
There were reports that he was barely speaking to her and yeah I saw the half hug. It wasn't surprising.
As for the $150,000 I would only be outraged if I donated to their campaign. I did not so if people who gave their hard earned money to the campaign want to be outraged that it was used to give the Palin family a shopping spree then I think more power to them.
As for the money spent on these campaigns.. many taxpayers donated to these campaigns it was their choice to fund it so who can complain?
As for Prop 8 it shouldn't even exist and people are outraged.. it is being discussed on another board.. lol

No more Sarah Palin nonsense. We're done! Let's move forward with real news.

There are clearly two groups in the McCain camp. The moderates who never wanted her, who were clearly very close with John McCain, and the right wingers who couldn't stand the fact that he could not energize the base.
These two groups are still duking it out, and Sarah Palin is just in the middle of it. The fact that she's stuck in the middle STILL, is evidence she is WAAAAY out of her league. She is Exhibit A why small town mayors have no business in presidential politics.
But seriously, where's my reality show?

I couldn't disagree with you more, Ivy. I need more Sarah. I need it everyday. I would love to see how she runs her house. I want to know what she pays her servants. I want to know if Bristol is really getting married and if she's really going to name the new baby Coffee or Talladega.
Sarah, I wish I knew how to quit you.

What we're learning about Sarah is her true beauty. Everyone thought it was her stunning lipstick tattoo, or the comfort with which she can describe a presidential candidate as a friend of terrorists. But it's really that she doesn't know when to SHUT UP!!! The media keeps throwing a camera in front of her face and she keeps yammering. She doesn't realize everytime she opens her mouth at this point, she hands her primary opponents in 2012 a commercial. It's really quite elegant to watch someone intellectually Bushesque talk like she's Maya Angelou. It's her arrogance that encourages us all to give her any length of rope she needs to hang herself.
GO SARAH! GO SARAH!

You know, if she would have just kept her mouth shut or took advice from campaign aides she might have been perceived in a better light; however, she put herself in character harms way by refusing to do so. TsK TsK!
She should just lay low and tuck her tail between her legs and move on in taking care of her state. I would suggest she get educated in the field of political science and history, if she plans on going anywhere in the political arena besides Governor; I cannot believe she is a Governor, not knowing much at all in regards to basic history and geography!!!
Geez...Any one of us could have ran for V.P. and been able to at least wing it using selective verbiage & a little prepping from our aides!
- 1 vote
I don't understand why we're supposed to feel sorry for her. She took great pride in being the "pitbull" for the campaign. Also, she started throwing McCain and his aides under the bus weeks ago.
Yes, she does make McCain look bad. They obviously had no idea what sort of person she is (Tina Fey's impersonation of Palin: I like to consider myself one part high school ). Palin was in way over her head and she couldn't maintain her dignity.
- 2 votes
Cool ... Sarah is still getting press coverage. As they say, negative coverage is still better than no coverage. Let's see if we can keep it up for a few more years and roll right into the next election cycle.
And the conversation in here is great. Keep it up folks. All of you know exactly what you are talking about so don't let some idiot in here tell you otherwise. I'm sure you have all been to Alaska; had dinner with the Palins; know the media inside and out and know when they are telling you the truth or stretching the story; know all of the inner workings of government; were with her when she purchased all those cloths; were on the conference call when she argued her points; and may have even been lucky enough to be in the hallway when she answered the door only wearing a towel.
Poor baby!
She wants to run with the big dogs, but she doesn't have the education nor the tough hide necessary. When someone fools you (and, to be fair, your staff) into believing they are the President of France, and you fall for it, what do you expect people to say? She claims the "Africa is a country" and not knowing who signed on to the NAFTA agreement were "taken out of context"...how were they taken out of context? How many times did Gov. Palin stick her foot in her mouth? To what degree did she take advantage of being the VP nominee to spend taxpayer dollars -- or RNC dollars -- for her own benefit? She was found to have abused her power in the Troopergate scandal until the second committee investigated...a committee selected by...Gov. Sarah Palin!
Sarah Palin is a blockhead who thinks the Republican nomination in 2012 is her rightto have. Personally, I hope she gets it, because Barack Obama would bury her in the election...then she can go back to being a "hockey mom" (as a hockey fan, that offends me!) on her "bridge to nowhere" and find another Alaska State Trooper to harass...

With all the mud slinging the GOP and Palin did during the campaign, it might be prudent to take these claims of ignorance against Palin with a grain of salt. However, in my own oppinion I think it may be true. What I find most telling is how Palin now with the negative press aimed at her, is offended and claims it is just "wrong", but it seemed to be ok when she was doing the same to Obama. She shows herself to be the two-faced, ignorant, waste of space that most of us recognised during the campaign.

a writer wrote: What amazes me is that spending 150,000 + dollars on clothes is a story and an issue
You have missed the issue completely. Their is a bill that passed on ethics reform known as the McCain/Feingold act. This act specifically prohibits the purchase of clothing with campaign funds. The McCain campaign (we have no knowledge if John McCain was even aware - so no comment on that ) violated this act in spirit and proved their own arrogance by doing it in a way that will not lead to an ethics charge, by asking a donor to pay for these clothes on HIS credit card and then turn in an expense voucher. That is why it is an issue and if you do not understand the duplicity of this and feel the same anger, then there is something wrong with your morals! ... McCain / Feingold act - sponsored by John McCain - and HIS OWN campaign tried to circumvent it... need I say more on this?

I wished I voted for OBAMA!
She regreted wasting her vote on McCain/Palin.
- 6 votes
Here is the bottom line. If the members of a campaign comittee, the govrnment, or media don't have the balls to let their name be used in the article then dismiss it as false. I think that Palin represents a vast majority of America and there is no doubt that there were a lot of dems that would have loved to vote for her if she had not been attached to McCain. I would not be at all surprised to know that there are several million people in America that don't know that Africa is a continent. Unfortunatly that is why millions of people in our country don't run for office. One of the most foul things about the media is how slanted they are. It goes both ways regardless of party affiliation. I have not found once single media source that was truely unbias in their reporting. NPR comes close from time to time. The media is going to punk you out every time regardless of what you say if you are not supporting their paticular topic. Sarah Palin makes it easy for them. But none the less imagen what the media would be doing to Obama if he lost? I think Mrs. Palin is right on the mark with her name calling and I applaud her for doing so. It is this hunger for political correctness that is allowing some people and/or organisations to run rampent. There is no accountablility... start bringing them out into the light. If a apple is a apple, then call it a apple. Be respectful but I don't think terms like jerk are disrespectful...

Dear Say no to obama,
I wish I knew how to stop you guys from saying such ignorant crap like:
Was he remembering 57 Islamic states?
I know it's motivated by a deep seeded hate for who he is and has nothing to do with his being a Democrat who ran against Republican John McCain. Tell the truth and shame the devil. Obama is not a Muslim. I think you know that, but it feels good to you to diss him like that.
Hey, I can respect you calling out miss steps about issue oriented points, weaknesses in the party itself, but to continue to make unnecessary untrue references to Obama being a Muslim has no redeeming value at all for anyone or even those who agree with you. People who use such words as attacks simply tells the rest of the world, which is mostly made up of people of different colors, races, and religions, that America is a BIG LIE!!
Besides that, oh intelligent ones, I know you never thought about it, you're not honoring John McCain by doing that. Actually you keep insulting McCain's own daughter, who may have been brought up in a Christian home (just like Barrack Obama) but unlike Obama, was born into a family that was pure Muslim (mother, father, uncles/aunts, grandpaprents, etc.) in a country that was more than 80% Muslim. You're confirming to her that she need not have any aspirations of becoming anybody beyond John & Cindy's adopted daughter. Is that your ultimate goal?

The fact that the Obama aids can say things without revealing who they are and the same for the McCain aids is a fact that needs to be adressed by the new administration. Plug the leaks. There should be no straight party voting in any presidential election. Too many corrupt politicians can ride in like this and there are no votes "for" that candidate. You need to vote for any independant candidate by name and this is how it should be for every one on the ballot in a presidential election. The "issue" that brought out most of the new voters is the fact that Obama is Black. Don't try to deny it and if you do try, First explain why you did not vote in any other elections when the same media reports that. "Most of the first time voters are in their mid to late 20s", and are "low information voters". There is a Democrat State Senator in wisconsin who is being investigated for "Electioneering" which is "Showing people who to vote for and how to vote while they are standing in line to vote". Joe Biden did some electioneering too and this was on the NBC national news broadcast. Nothing will be done to any of the thousands of voter Fraud suspects and to the ACORN worker who Did Admit to registering and Voting 73 times for Obama. There are 49 other Voter Fraud suspects in just one county and there are so many more in this one state that a National investigation need to be made, that will not be made, and this is news that is seldom reported now that this election is over, yet there are more news stories from anonymous sources that are being reported. this is bias.
Sara's points are well taken or well taken out of context or well you know those guys were taken somewhere and it's just takin us down this road to nowhere out beyound what's reasonable.
Does this twitch sound alot like the Moron King George or what?

"Palinism" definition: 1. phrases, words, sentences, that "don't come out right" 2. words that are "twisted" by the listeners 3. you misheard - you jerks

LOL Sarah- CONTEXT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. It was not classy of the McCain aides to reveal the truth, but if you haven't noticed, Sarah, whether Africa is a continent or a country and who is a member of NAFTA are both things that DON"T CHANGE no matter what the context. Africa is always a continent, not a country...
What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Dan Quayle? Lipstick.

Rex-716417,
Who said what?? I've not heard one accuser's name given. Hell, anonymous sources could easily be Democratic 'hatchetmen' run amuck!!! Give us a verifiable source and let's hear McCain back it up!
Otherwise, you're simply promoting gossip. Like when hens cackle!!!
- 7 votes
As I already said, not classy of the McCain aides to do what they did - not defending them for sure. I'm not promoting anything, just pointing out that Palin's defense only confirms the truth behind the stories.
And it's clearly not "democratic hatchetmen" - as much as you might want to attribute it to a left-wing conspiracy, Palin herself admits the discussions at issue, which "democratic hatchetmen" wouldn't be privy to - only Republican insiders to blame here - sorry to disappoint you. And the fact that she doesn't deny the points, just tries to hide behind the excuse of context, only brings us back to my point - none of these things are dependent on context. Where does that leave you now, Sarah?
- 17 votes
Hell, anonymous sources could easily be Democratic 'hatchetmen' run amuck!!!
lol To what end? We have won the election. And honestly, after the resounding rebuke of the McCain/Palin ticket in the form of votes, there isn't a democrat alive that isn't praying for her to run in 2012. lol

Just wondering, has Sen. McCain made any comments about the campaign rifts?
- 2 votes
actually (my thoughts) if O can run without a certified birth cert and proof that he is really an American born citizen I think since the rules have changed now that in 2012 the Repeublicans can send in the TERMINATOR....yes we can...yes we can...yes we can....go Arnold!
- 9 votes
McCain is a class act (until some of this campaign) .. and now will go back to being a well respected and class act again - he did comment - he said that he abhors any allegations - he would not and should not address this issue directly as he was not there .. but he deplores leaks... as I said .. a class ACT... that said.. I did not vote for him - but would have in 2000 if he had been the candidate.. he lost me when he put her a heartbeat away .. as he lost many of us.
Why is this birth certificate nonsense still going on.. he WAS BORN in Hawaii.. do you really think the state faked all the records 48 years ago knowing he would run for President someday? Being born in the US makes you a citizen.. period... but the facts are he was also born in the USA to an American mother!
- 15 votes
Thanks for the info, Bob. I hadn't heard anything one way or the other. I agree with you that Sen. McCain is a class act, and it was reflected in his concession speech. I'm still pondering why the RNC thought Palin was a good choice.
- 6 votes
The RNC didn't like her for the ticket, only the far consertive did. McCain chose her only after two hours talking to her and never had her vetted. At lest from what I have heard. He liked her and thought she would bring people to hear him. He used her. The one thing he didn't figure on is the new tec. world where you can look up things on a person. Her husband belonging to the Independence Party up there that advocates secesion from the United Syayes from 1995 to 202 when she ran for mayor. She even talked at one of their conventions, and had them in her home. The leaks in the Alaska pipe line, which is in very bad need of repair. Rusting out damaging the tundra. Yes she fought them but for money not repair of the pipe line.Aldulty, several years ago. News is in the Alaska Pipe Line books facts. The other is in the Anchorage Daily News. Also her extended family gave a lot of bad news about her. It is McCains fault for having her. I pray she will wake up and do what is right for Alaska now. Obama and the news never put out any of that information even when she was taking nasty swings at him.But she is the one that is carrying this on and we need to forget her and the election and get together to help our new president get our country strightened out. If you can't take the heat then don't go in for politics. Look at what H. Clinton tok ans well as sent. Yet when she was defeted, she came out positive, and will go on working for our country I respect her. Palin needs to be positive now and work for the State she is ahead of now and not for money in her pocket. enough said. This is from a 79 year old woman. I know Ill never see a woman president, but sure would love to. Get behind Obama and raise our country above the politics and stringten it out in the world also.

rex--does Joe Biden know "jobs" has 4 letters, not 3? I guess his hair-plugs went too deep in his pea-sized brain and scrambled what his A-V malformation didn't! Enough of HATE. It is certainly easier to kick a horse when it's down, isn't it. At least she has the guts to defend herself.
- 7 votes
Bob, I agree about McCain - he conducts himself with class and kudos to him for vetoing the use of various 'low road' tactics, having the courage to correct the lady with the 'Muslim' comment, etc. I think the campaign did get away from him here and there but I think that was more the doing of others, with him being the voice of reason that pulled them back when things got out of hand. I have lots of respect for the man.
Mary, you hit it right on the head. Time for all of us to be positive, unite around our new president, and change things all together, little by little, everyday.
- 2 votes
Well chop, you just spewed hate on Biden instead of heeding your own words about ending hate. And I wasn't even talking about Biden so i'm not sure why you even brought him up.
How about actually trying to answer the point I raised about Palin's "context" defense and why it doesn't work? That would be actual substantive discourse.
If you really believe in ending the hate, how about doing as Mary says, and working towards unity and bringing about positive change?
- 4 votes
Rex--My comments are NOT filled with the venom YOU people have. I did not vote for Obama because he is not experienced enough (in my view). This election is over, everyone has hopefully moved on. Why does the need to kick the wounded have to be there? She has other problems than to worry about some "anonymous" staffer bashing her.
- 2 votes
What experience in foreign policy did George W. Bush have or Bill Clinton for that matter!!!!! Will you people get over it. He had enough leadership ability to bring together a huge portion of the country. And he has enough leadership ability to bring in people who are as smart or smarter than him who can advise him. That is what advisors do. They fill in where you are not as strong. A leader is someone who recognizes weaknesses or PERCEIVED weaknesses in his or her own self and surrounds him or herself with those who have those strengths. This is what made him a better choice. I have always liked and respected John McCain, but when he chose Sarah from Alaska, I thought he was just like all other nonleaders--pick people less intelligent and experienced than yourself so they don't take your job. I am impressed with Obama and his campaign staff for the organization and skill they had during this ordeal. They showed that they made wise choices and laid great plans that were followed. I cannot wait to see how he and his staff bring this strength to the White House--no more shooting from the hip, but planning and executing. That brings great respect from the other world leaders and world citizens. For once, maybe we can calm some of those around the world who hate us by showing that yes, we believe in human rights and we practice equality daily.

Chop, here are your own words:
"I guess his hair-plugs went too deep in his pea-sized brain and scrambled what his A-V malformation didn't! Enough of HATE. "
So, your references to hair plugs, pea-sized brain and malformation don't count as venom? You don't see how you contradicted your very own words about 'enough of hate'? For real? Okay, then my work is done here.
And again, you didn't address my substantive point... gee, I wonder why. It's easier to just change the subject and talk about how you despise those who kicked the wounded - good for you - may I remind you, they are Republicans from McCain's own camp, who no one is defending anyway. Is that what you meant by 'YOU people'?
Ok, I am moving on.

To all of you fighting over if Biden has a brain left after his TWO brain anurheism surgeries......Good question???
You fight about Sarah not knowing that Africa is a continent....WHO CARES!!! Obama thinks that the United States of American has 59 states. So, if he thinks he is going to balance the budget by x's 59.....obama is sadely mistakening.
But I to would love to see him produce all his records for the American people to see. Even Kadafee over in Libiya is calling him "Our Kenyan Muslim Brother." Russia congradulated him by saying "Were putting missiles on the border of Poland." Hammas moved troops onto the border of Syria....ready to strike Israel. Yeah! Beanne,
Â
To be blunt, you sir are a moron. President Elect Obama has released his Birth Certificate and anyone who wants to see it can. He was born in Hawaii which is a part of the United States. Do you really believe that a little thing like where a person was born could be covered up? Do you realize the vast conspiracy that would require? All it would take is one person looking to become famous to break a story like that. This is what I mean by you being a moron. You allow your bias and hatred to obscure obvious facts while ignoring the absurdity of the idea that a presidential candidate could possibly get away with concealing where he was born in this day and age.
Â
Both candidates did release their medical records. It was actually McCain who was being secretive and evasive by only releasing a small amount of information and limiting the time that the press had to review it.
Â
"A President is in a sence (sense) owned by the citizens of the land."Â Wow, what an incredibly stupid statement!
Â
What I really wish people like you would do is just be honest. Why don't you just admit that you don't like President Elect Obama because he is black and for no other reason? I for one prefer openly racist people to cowards like you who pretend to be fair and objective.

Beanne, A preisdent is president 24 hourse a day. When Clinton was doing Monica in the Oval Office, people said, "Oh Well, what he does on his own time doesn't matter." It sure does matter to me & a whole lot of Americans.
Why does Obama have 20 law suits againts him about his records? The company that said the birth certicate was real was in "Conflict of Interest", due to fact the Obama sat on their board in Chicago & handed out money to companies such as Acorn. To “just say no to obama”, “beanne”, “chop007”, “R.Crockett”, and any other Palin Defenders:
I realize that your blind hatred of President Elect Obama clouds your ability to reason, but let’s try it anyway. What all of you don’t seem to have the ability to understand is that there is a huge difference between a “slip of the tongue” or “mistake” and a demonstrable lack of knowledge. Everyone misspeaks on occasion, including Palin, McCain, Biden, and Obama.
Regardless of whether or not you agree with their positions, it is clear that all the candidates except Palin are knowledgeable about foreign affairs, government, history, etc. Obama graduated from Harvard Law and was President of the Harvard Law Review. He obviously knows how many states there are and Biden obviously knows that “jobs” has four letters. These are called mistakes. You are obviously reaching for anything to justify and explain McCain’s selection of an absolute moron to be his running mate. Palin did not simple misspeak.
Just off the top of my head, these are a few things that can be attributed to Palin:
1. She could not give a remotely coherent interview and subsequently was sheltered from the press.
2. She tried to argue that Alaska’s proximity to Russia constituted foreign policy experience.
3. She could not articulate the responsibilities of a Vice President.
4. She did not understand many of the questions during the debate, so she ignored them.
These are not mistakes or the product of a “biased media”. They demonstrate a clear lack of knowledge.
DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE?

jdg96 What I see is a preident elect that has clouds of suspecion over him. I see letters of congradulations from Iran. I see Libyia calling him "Their Kenyan Muslim brother". Russia has sent him a letter of congradulations & said "Watch this!" They just put missiIes on the border of Poland. Hammas has moved troops onto the border of Syria....to strike Israel. These foreign power's KNOW that this country is divided & weak now. We've got a president that is a dove, instead of a hawk.
l hear all this chatter about his records that he won't let us see. I hear stories that he is gay & had his gay lover killed. Let a lone what he wants to do to our Constitional Rights. This guy is scarey, scarey, scarey.

jdg96 Why do you just excuse all these rumors or law suits surrounding Obama? You said that I hated hime. I never said that. I just would like to have all these questions answered. If they were answered, we could all start working together. Instead of all this mud slinging. But when someone like me even dare to ask a question....you go all postal. What's the deal????
- 2 votes
I hear stories that he is gay & had his gay lover killed.
Good point. We should quit the mudslinging.
R.Crockett,
OK - so you want "all these questions answered"? Perhaps if you read more or educated yourself in some other way you be able to distinguish between real "questions" and absurd and vicious rumors spread by those with clear agendas.
To answer one of your "questions":
"Why do you just excuse all these rumors or law suits surrounding Obama?"
Answer - I tend to pay more attention to factual reports than "rumors" and it is common knowledge that public people tend to attract law suits. I believe Palin attracted a few of her own.
To answer another one of your "questions":
Did Barack Obama have his gay lover killed?
Answer - No, that's just ridiculous. Something like that would require a vastly implausible conspiracy among countless people.
I'm just curious, do you have any "questions" about John McCain? I heard that he was an alien from a planet in the Andromeda galaxy sent here as a spy in preparation for the alien take over. Can you prove he isn't?
See how easy it is to make up absurd stories and feed them to gullible?

Actually, I am from Andromeda. And after reading this string of comments I have decided to go back.
PS I am not taking McCain with me, we did not vote for him there either.

We can"t forget that Fidel Castro is a big Obama supporter too.
BTW, am I still paying his aunt's rent? I'm not a multimillion dollar seller of motivational self-help books like our new president is. Maybe he should take care of his own. In his acceptance speech he talked abourt his redistribution ideology. (Wall Street, Main Street comments and "We must all work harder to support our (non-working) neighbor") Could he share the wealth with his aunt, so I don't have to keep supporting her?
Beane.. you have a right to anything you want to believe.. HOWEVER.. there is no sealed record.. there was a dismisal in each court of the lawsuits contesting his birth certificate .. one judge in his ruling called the allegations (and I paraphrase) RIDICULOUS ... the state of Hawaii has confirmed the accuracy of the birth certificate on file .. and they have confirmed his being born in Hawaii, as has the hospital that processed the paperwork ... Now you can ask to see the original.. get on a plane - fly to Hawaii and look - but I think you are no birth certificate expert.. and probably the most compelling piece of evidence of all is that NO ONE outside the lunatic fringe has even brought this up.. why? BECAUSE HE IS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN.... I can allege you are NOT a citizen.. I can file a lawsuit and claim your birth certificate is a fake... can you prove to me you are a citizen??? I know for a fact that your (chose a relative in the country your ancestors are from ) were NOT citizens and you are covering this up with a fake birth certificate ! Well I choose not to believe your proof... get it now:?

wow...LOL I did not realize how much people had to say about this topic. I am a republician or republicrat and I am actually embarrased by what some of the McCain/Palin supporters are saying here. I think they must be saying it for one of two reasons. A. They are sore losers or B. They are scared. Sure I didn't vote for Obama and I really don't like him. But the votes were cast and he won. So instead of trying to rip each other apart over who did what, and shoulda, coulda, woulda. Support the man. I may not respect Obama but I do respect the position he will be holding when he takes oath. I also recognize the fact that he is human and going to make mistakes. I also think that with all the power the Dems have on Capital hill they will either make some great changes, or they will fall into the political traps and show the world they are no different than republicians. Either way I am looking at this as a win/win. That sure beats sitting here on my lap top showing everyone that I am a middle aged cry baby...LOL. OH here is one thing about Obama's birth certificate. Yes it can be forged, yes it can be falsly certified... BUT ... there is no way it could get it past the secret service that does the rubber glove back ground check. Sorry he is as American as this disabled veteran republican.

Fox News is even talking bad about her. I'm thinking the GOP realizes what a huge mistake they made in choosing her. Now, they want to make sure she stays in Alaska and not try running in 2012. She's not ready and wouldn't be by then either. I am so happy Obama won by a landslide. I feel like we all took our country back. I just wish the rules could be changed and GWB go back to Texas ASAP- before he screws up more stuff. Please don't let them go uranium mining in the Grand Canyon. It'll poison the Colorado River and everyone's drinking water out west.

rena
Plus Americans are consuming 27% of the Worlds oil supply...and we only produce 3%
of the oil including Alaska.
- 3 votes
Again on the oil thing. We need to drill, period.
There is enough oil in the world to last another hundred years. Some say more. Regardless of how much there is - nobody says it is unlimited. So eventually we will run out of it. It is therefore unthinkable that we do not find alternative sources of energy. However, to not use the oil reserves we have would be ignorant. We can get this oil in an environmentally responsible manner. We can also develop those new sources of energy for the future.
This is a ridiculous debate. The fact that we have not been doing so is inexcusable. It is in our national best interest to drill.
Okay, we drill...cool. Where do we refine it ? Our refineries are acting at or above capacity now. And as a matter of fact, our refinery's well-being have more to do with gas prices than the cost of oil. (For evidence, look at the spike of gas prices after the two hurricanes this year.)
- 1 vote
So as long as we discuss and argue and don't pressure, I mean real pressure, like a landlord does for the rent, phone company for its money, the politicians to find alternative sources, decrease our need for oil and plastics, build refineries, drill safely, it will stay the same as it has for 30 years. We've known all this, nothing is new, and big oil has controlled the government policies. I still know people paying over $7 a gallon for heating fuel, less than 100 miles from the oil rigs. Yet 25 years ago I drove thru Canada, past refineries, and paid a very high price for gas. It's all about educate, vote, stay on them, hold them accountable. We at least have an administration poised to do so. But we all have to help.
we will get it refined. This will also create more jobs. It will also create revenue for the country. We can start to refine our own oil reducing our dependancy on others for a start.
WQ, without building more refineries how do you propose to do this ? The refineries are running at or above capacity as it is.
Do those who talk about refining understand that YOU CAN NOT get it refined.. a great sentiment - but it takes many (up to 10) years to build a refinery - where are you getting this refined WQ ... this is not "I say it can be done - so there" .. this is reality .. we should have learned from the gas shortages of the late 70's and early 80's:
"those who do not learn the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them"
NOW is the time to actually put the money into new renewable sources.. not to throw good money after bad on a losing and depleted source!
On a final note... please remember that oil was flowing from Alaska long before Sarah Palin was born.. AND that despite the rhetoric.. the "new" pipeline she touted so strongly, has not had 1 shovel of dirt started yet .. again we are years away!
- 1 vote
Bob,
More than years if the Sierra Club has it's way...same with the refineries.
for starters we refine more of our own oil and less of others. That helps to reduce our dependancy on other sources. Then we also start to build new refineries. Who says it takes 10 years to build one? You can build a refinery in a lot less time than 10 years. But first you have to start it.
I agree that we need other energy sources. But that is a long term solution as well. So using your argument about refineries then I guess we should not even try any other energy sources - they will just take too long to get to. We are a lot of years away from having enough alternative energy so that we do not need oil any longer.
Ethanol is certainly not an replacement fuel -it takes three gallons of water to make one gallon of ethanol. I think our resource of water for us to drink is a little more important than driving a car.
Can't put a windmill on top of a car. Solar energy for cars are a long way off. Electrical cars are getting much better as are natural gas cars. However, both of these cars are years off as we need infrastructure to allow for them to be used in our everyday lives.
So we should be drilling right now and stop continuing the error of not drilling that we have made for many years now.
Did some checking on refineries too - wanted to make sure the number I had was not some number provided by a conservative drill supporter. It takes 40 - 45 months to build a refinery. That is under half of the 10 year number you provided. Some refineries being built in foreign countries are coming closer to the 36 month period of time. So obviously we could erect refineries in less than 10 years.
it takes about 4-5 years to get the regulatory approvals.. before you start building.. that is unless legislation and epa protocols are suspended.. and no one has even tried to get that done yet.. not a whisper.. not a peep .. just pure rhetoric.. as the Sgt said above.. and that is before the sierra club or anyone starts! .. check your numbers again taking into account all the existing factors. AND .. who is building these refineries? the oil companies have NO desire to do so .. they control the pipeline now! All rhetoric with the drill drill drill.. nothing to help us out in the near future.. regretfully!
As to the pipeline.. we are talking about private vs public here.. when have you ever seen a public project take only 2 years .. and again.. that was AFTER how many years of getting right of way and regulatory approval?
On a last note... just like the talk about suspending the gas tax... rhetoric is just that .. it was all talk.. no one put one bill before congress to even try... this is much like that issue.. until someone steps up to the plate.. we have not even begun to start... that is the real truth ... like the bailout helped the homeowners? same thing.. not one homeowner.. but the banks are on an aquisition hunt with the money we thought was going to free up credit markets and help the guy going into foreclosure.. so as far as I can tell.. this drill drill etc is just that .. rhetoric...
- 1 vote
so the people that want the drill issue to be rhetoric have the ability to tie up the process in legislative hearings so that the refineries never get built and the pipeline never gets erected. Which just further proves the point that our problem is our government. They are creating our problems through bad decisions and needless red-tape. We need less of them not more of them.
The government could have their act together in a very short time period. Or they could drag it out and just say to drill would take 20 years, and then they could make it so simply by dragging out the process.
Drilling is not rhetoric it is a big part of the solution. To ignore it is negligent.
I think you are wrong. I think that drilling can provide a short term shot in the arm on many fronts, including jobs which would actually be something that did benefit middle america. Of course I understand that government could drag this out if they wanted to. But why would they want to? Why would they not want to get this going on a fast track. They have control of the time-line and could certainly clear the path to this if they were so inclined to do so.
I agree with you on the bailout - has not helped one single homeowners and the lenders are simply hoarding the cash they have been given. Bad business people caused the problem and those same people with more cash is not going to make them any smarter or any more ethical. Bad decision makers go out of business, we should not stop that process.
It amazes me that these big wigs with all their dem and rep friends run their institutions into the ground and then get a bailout. Well how about a bailout for each person who has watched their social security money get redirected from them. We never had the money to reimburse that fund for the average american - but boy o boy we have the money to help out Biff at ABC Global Bank. It is terrible.
I would certainly agree with you that I am tired of the rhetoric and tired of our government continuing to do what is best for their own individual careers. As much as I respect McCain he really disappointed in this area too. He said he was against pork and as president would veto each and every piece of legislation that had pork - yet he voted for the bail out with all its pork. He routinely said that OBAMA was not qualified to be President and told us how important qualifications and experience are - then he names Palin as his VP.
We will see how we get through all of this.
I'm from Southeast Texas, actually sitting right now about 3 miles from Spindletop, the birthplace of the American oil industry. And our whole economy here is oil based. We are now in the process of expaning many of the refineries here, one of which will be the largest in the US when complete. So, I kinda know what I'm talking about. And 10 years is about right, based not only on permits, regulations, etc, but don't forget planning. Most of these projects are in the planning stage for 2 - 5 years before anything is done. The expansion project I mentioned above is now in it's 5th year, and just now at the end of the first year of actual work being performed. it is scheduled for another 3 years minimum, not counting if it goes over schedule. So, that's 8 years, just for an expansion, not a whole new refinery.
And as far as "if we drill here we can refine here and reduce our dependence on forign oil", all oil is palced on the world market for sell to the highest bidder. There is no difference about where it comes from.
Heres teh comment that the media seems to be missing. She said that the other 49 states can learn from Alaska.
This comes from the same person that said "Real Americans" are in the small towns.
Interesting isnt it.

Not the left rightofcenter .. SOME of the left.. but mainly the media blowing BOTH sides (they sell advertising you know) out of proportion.. and the RIGHT is just as guilty then...
Put blame where it belongs... I hated GWB as president .. but he was my President none the less ... BOTH sides trash each other - but NOT a majority a both sides.. and the media finds that little minority who are so vocal and make it "news" ...
Sorry rightofcenter.. that is the the truth.. my comment I believe was accurate.. and I am referring to the posts above as examples of pure nonsense...
I am focused on the future.. and believe in the AMERICAN people.. ALL of them .. but have pure disdain for the "haters" above! (on both sides)

Are you kidding me Bob! I wonder what party you belong to? I don't see you being so magnanimous in your victory. Why do you continue to attack the woman after she lost? She has every right to defend herself from false allegations. How does defending herself make her guilty? She said it was out of context and unless you have proof otherwise how can you or I say differently? At least she is coming out legitimately and not hiding behind a vail of anonymity. And I also like how you and other Obama-ites here gloss over and avoid the question that was presented by others about Obama's and Biden's mistakes in speaking. Obama's 57 states gaffe and Biden's FDR fire side chats on TV gaffe don't count when we talk about qualifications for president I guess. Your hypocricy knows no bounds there Bob.

You're right. We need to put this pettiness aside and just support our new president. Whether he is good for the country or not, we still need to support him. Who knows he may turn out to be a great president. Let's put all this hatred that was created by the McCain campaign aside and let's be friends. We are all Americans and we should stick together as Americans. If we all stand together and work with our new government, we can get it to work for all of us and not for just a few.
GOD BLESS AMERICA - THE AMERICAN PEOPLE - AND OUR 44TH PRESIDENT

Gmman.... My hypocrisy? I think not - perhaps your ignorance of the posts I have made - your assumptions of my interepratation of her comments .. but nowhere does hypocrisy enter my posts - they are based on her statements and or facts entered into the public record.. not innuendo or myths ... how about you reading and watching what she said before you miscategorize what I have said ... then let me know what part of my opinion that she is a true "idiot" on national politics is invalid.. in her quest to prove she was not stupid.. she went and stated that her "stupid" statements are out of contest.. Now lets be clear.. It is not my job to know NAFTA, North America, or AFRICA... but IT IS a job of a national leader to know these things.. and truly SHE is putting herself out in the spotlight... not me... and not you .. and not the media.... has the term NO COMMENT ever had any more relevance than now?
SHE SAID IT .. in or out of context.. that is the issue! and said it again just yesterday!

Many of us in Alaska knew this stuff about Palin when she was trying to get on the ticket. We have seen her in action, and none of this is new to us. We still have the same kind of people you do. Some support her blindly, others hate her blindly, others are confused, apathetic, and some are just pragmatic, some kinda nuts. We have a group that wants to succeed, because they gave up on the government, a group that wants to impeach her, a group that wants to impeach her, a group that wants her to run next time, a group that wants her to stop embarassing us, and another group, which I tend to support, leave her alone, help her get back to work. Not all of us get to make fools of ourselves on national tv, altho many seem to want to. Most of us make fools of ourselves at one time or another. Shes a good person, our governor, deserves some respect, admiration for giving it a shot, support in her work, and to be left alone except as pertains to that work.
JCE... then Sarah needs to learn how to just get on with her life as governor and stop searching for face time with the national media.. if she said "no comment" a few times - they would seek a new story... instead she just keeps on campaigning.. nothing gives more credence to mistakes.. then continually denying them - most politicians on a national scale learn this long before they become the governor of a state!
Most people (me included) would love her to just go back to being governor and stop justifying the mistake of her even accepting a vp run at this stage of her career ... but she is fueling the fires... no one else... so campaign aides talk.. until she verified that talk, with her cockeyed answer - it was just that .. talk! Never has the term "shut up" had more meaning - and she really needs to understand that is not an insult.. it is advise!
Booo... I think the above comments, now that Bidden is our vp elect (not just another senator) ... is perhaps germain to why his lips have been glued! - a national leader is a different role .. and the smart learn that quickly! The talking is now done by our Pres elect .. the rest of his team helps him achieve!

Guinness and Schlitz for everyone I say... ROFL you guys that picked up on that are friggin awesome!
I want to know how someone who is trying to prove that the statements made about her were false, gives herself away that the allegations were true in her retort to the press. As evidenced by her statement, and I will quote it directly from this story: “So, no, I think that if there are allegations based on questions or comments that I made in debate prep about Nafta, and about the continent versus the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context,” Ms. Palin said. Lets examine this, shall we? One, it could have been a legitimate answer for someone to prep you for a debate, still, as a politician going for the second highest office in the land, should you need a prep for the NAFTA participating countries as opposed to the debate of the agreement itself? If one was familiar with NAFTA, then the debate should be on who's not a member and the tenets of the agreement itself. Two, has anyone had geography? Africa is a continent, not a country. There is a country in Africa called South Africa, however there is no country called Africa within the continent of Africa. And as stated above, by Ms. Palin in her own words, she @!$%#ed up again by saying " and about the continent versus the country when we talk about Africa there," yet she wants someone to believe that the aides were lying. It's right there in her own words. Not one person in the world refers to the country of South Africa as just plain Africa nor do they call the continent of Africa a country. The woman is not fit to run for the second highest office in the land, with a possibility of being President, when she cannot fess up to her obvious impediments in mental capacity and integrity. We as a nation can do better, and as a soldier and former resident of Alaska, Alaska can do better than Sarah Palin. The choice McCain made cost him dearly, and this is the reason why. Ms. Palin is a vengeful, determined, dim-witted yet well meaning, egotistical, superiority complex having idiot who should not be allowed in public office for the betterment of our nation, her state, and all of our families.

So if all the Palin 'gaffes' are rumors, what do you make of the prank phone call? Was that staged? The fact she didn't know who the Canadian Prime Minister was (who she's been on record as saying she's had many dealings with in her capacity as governor.) Consider that a pop quiz, and she failed.
No, I don't know who the Prime Minister is either, but I'm not running for president. I'm an IT specialist. and I know what my job entails.
I understand you're eager to defend your candidate..but denying you made any mistakes in your camp, denying that the political posture is shifting away from the right to the center/left (evidence of the DISMAL republican youth vote by the exit polls) and mistakenly thinking that every bad thing that happened to you is the democrat's fault...will just keep costing you elections and political clout.
The first step in correcting a problem, is admitting there's one to begin with.

The main problems in this country are the ignorance, gullibility, bigotry, irrationality, meanness, selfishness, and apathy of a large part of the population. Admit that, confront that, and maybe we can move on. I hear some good sense on some of these posts, but I've heard more sense out of toddlers or drunks than a too large portion of these posts. I doubt I'll come here often, just discovered posting and trying to learn a thing or too. I think I'll go puke now.
Sgt C,
With all the tare down of her dont you think it is a reasonable response to try to put some of this to light. The pure hatred for the woman is scary. These people who came out and secretly said this are scum. All I keep thinking is Wow this woman is strong. You know they found she had no blame in the firing of the guy in Alaska. But that was on the last page of the news paper. So you tell me if you think everything they have thrown at this woman is fair? bo made gaffes they don't even cover them but they were hot after her. Her family has been attacked from day one. But bo is off limits. So maybe I would be more inclined to believe the stuff that is thrown out there if they weren't foaming at the mouths.
- 1 vote
Boo,
This is part of the problem with being a relative newcomer to the national scene. Nobody knows anything one way or the other. So every piece of information, no matter how speculative becomes 'news'.
You call this woman 'strong.' Sorry, for me strong left as soon as she decided to pursue a VP position that she was woefully unqualified for. A strong woman would put the needs of her family first, and turn down her '15 minutes of fame' to do the right thing. That's strength. Anyone can give up their ethical and moral bounderies to be famous. They have to be willing to accept the consequences of those actions. The consequences of suddenly flying on the news scene are increased scrutiny by the news media.
Also Boo, lest you forget..the news media covered plenty (last count on fact-check, snopes, and politifact.org have it at nearly 100) rumors, chain emails, and allegations of Barack Obama, and he's been on the scene for 4 years. I'll let you decide whether they are true or not.
Palin's coverage of the news media reminds me of when I used to inspect Marine's barracks rooms: I take a quick peak; if it looks clean and smells clean, I move on. If something's amiss, I start doing some digging.
In my personal opinion, I think too much of it has been brought to light. I'd personally wish she'd stop talking to the press, focus on running the State, spend time with her family, brush up on her civic lessons...and maybe in 2016, she'd be ready to pursue a national post again.
- 1 vote
Sgt C,
I am confused a little. She can only be a strong woman at home? What qualifications does OB have again. Or shall I say Clinton... He was just a Governor also. But thanks for your point of view.
I am not saying I was ready to follow her into a fire pit, but I would have at least liked to have had a chance to get to know the woman. I don't know for one what the conversations were when she was talking to the little moles And we never will it is a he said she said.
I also wish that Obama would have been a little more forth coming. There is still so much I would like to know about the new President. Yes I know there is tons of crack pot stuff out there about OB. That is just it I am not ideologue and listen to trivial things.
I am sad that you see her as a fame seeker. But your perception is diferent than mine. You have to put yourself out there in order to get there...where ever that may be. Politics The milatary ordinary house wife. You never know until you try. So that is what I meant by seeing her as strong.
I raised my children to do just that. So hopefully one day they look at something that someone is telling them you cant attain that its above you or out of reach. They work a little harder, stand a little taller. We have told our daughters that you can do anything if you work hard enough. It just seems now we are saying but not if we just simply don't like you.
- 1 vote
Boo,
As a mother, you also raised your children to do 'what's right above what is popular,' right? That's my basis for my argument . She threw away her moral decency (as proved by some of the statements she made at her rallies) and allowed herself to be used by the RNC to try to gain votes. All for fame. In turn, she put a lot of stress on her family, and may have harmed herself politically for years to come. I never said she could only be strong at home. She's obviously a well-respected governer. But she at this time obviously has no place in national politics. She stepped way outside of her comfort zone, and the professionals made her pay for it. Put it in perspective: Say you like playing golf, and you're pretty good at it. So you go challenge Tiger Woods to a match. What do you think is going to happen ? You're going to be embarrassed. And it will be a LONG time before you're taken seriously. She (by accepting the nomination) set the bar for herself, and failed to meet it.
Anyone who thought the RNC wouldn't throw her under the 'straight talk express' and back over her a few times before driving off was seriously remiss. This should've been a foregone conclusion once the race started not to go their way. Frankly, I'm surprised it took this long. It's the nature of politics: if you lose, someone has to be for blame. Why not blame the 'newcomer' by leaking her trangressions and paint her as a rogue diva ? (sorry, I'm combining monikers to save space)
- 1 vote
Sgt C
Thanks for the golf lesson. I do know why they are attacking her and I know Why everyone was on the Obama train of HOPE and Change. So what I am saying isn't it just popular to pick on her now the way the nay sayers are? See I wonder where you come up with she threw her moral decency away. BO didn't have to say anything the minions of the media and the Bush haters did it for him. I call a man who sat in a Church that spewed hate White America for 20 years not very good moral decency. Or conversing with a known American terrorist bad moral judgement? So please understand there is mud on both sides to throw. So in your analogy does that apply to Hilary. I think you are over simplifying. I did support McCain Palin. I am proud of that. But I knew from the beginning it was going to be a loss. The minute they started chanting not 8 more years of bush. I also know that Barrack will be elected again no mater who they the RNC puts up.
If you do not like her that is you right. I have great respect for that right. I was hopeful when BO was elected that the minions would move on but my hope was dashed quickly. I just found these site the other day. and have enjoyed the banter but not the hate.
God bless
All I can say is she's whinning about a few months of being in the spotlight and you people supporting her say "oh, she is so stong to take all that". i guess you think Hillary is Atlas, she's taken WAYYYYY more than palin for 16 years now, and you don't hear her whinning!
Jerk???? Stinkers????? This is from a woman who truely believes she can be a world leader? She needs to up her vocabulary first.
OK brilliant, Yes as a matter of fact I did hear her whine through her husband an ex President. What would you have a mother of children, Governor, say. Oh I know she could take a note from Emanuele. They can go f..k themselves. Now that's saying it!! Go back to your huffington post blog where you can have a hay day.....

A Free Trade Alliance San Antonio 2005 summary of goals and accomplishments documents the direct involvement of the Bush administration into the development of San Antonio’s inland port NAFTA plans. The following were among the bulleted points:
- Organized four marketing trips to Mexico and China to promote Inland Port San Antonio and met with prospects. Met with over 50 prospects/leads during these trips.
- Continued to pursue cross border trucking by advocating a pilot project with at least two major Mexican exporters as potential subjects. Worked with U.S. Department of Transportation, Dept. of Homeland Security and U.S. Trade Representative on this concept.
- Working with Mexican ports to develop new cargo routes through the Ports of Manzanillo and Lazaro Candenas.
- San Antonio is on the route of the Trans-Texas Corridor planned to be built along I-35 from Laredo, Tex., on the Mexican Border, north through Dallas, en route to the Oklahoma border.
The development of a China-Mexico trade route reflects a fundamental shift since the passage of NAFTA. At the peak in the mid-1990s, there were some three thousand maquiladoras located in northern Mexico, employing over 1 million Mexicans in low-paying, assembly sweat-shops. Today, even Mexican labor is not cheap enough for the international corporations seeking only to maximize profits. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, that bubble has burst and the maquiladora activity is down over 25 percent from the peak as the international corporations have found even cheaper labor in China.
The Bush Administration seems on-board with the plan, aiming to increase corporate capital gains in NAFTA markets rather than worrying about the adverse consequences to Mexican low-skilled workers or to the U.S. labor movement that transferring increasing amounts of manufacturing and assembly to China entails.
You may also want to check into who the original designer of NAFTA was.........Bush Sr.

The problem is not with Palin, as she has done good things for us here in Alaska. We know her to be a great and true American for the people. The problem is with the idiots in the lower 48 states, just realising NOW that Alaska is a state in the USA, the largest and richest state in America, that we don't live in igloos and drive dog teams to work. Fools didn't know who Palin is, or what Alaska is about. The media unfairly ripped into her, it was very sexist oriented and a disappointment for most of Alaska. You wonder why Alaska has a VERY LARGE indepentant party. After seeing how you have treated our fellow life-long Alaskan unfairly and demeaned the people of Alaska, you will watch the that party grow!!! Alaskans say *f*U people and the pigs you rode in on. Your ill-informed, continue to be ill-informed by a media that was BOUGHT OUT by Obama 70$ MILLION DOLLARS worth. (Just as Hitler did)I am glad Sarah is back home to run things here, we now sleep better knowing she is and will continue backing the people of Alaska.
You now have your idiot elect, Ah-Bammah Hussien- I can't wait to see your faces when you realize this radical you voted for, and it's already happening, true colors show through. Instead of voting for real American people, you got sold down the road by your TV set into a pop-culture, trained celebrity actor, black radical, who can't make a decent speech after being elected, auh, um, auh, um, ahhh.. then trash Nancy Regan in it also. You all deserve what you get with this "puppet" this "empty suit" this disgrace. Mark my words- you will regret him and he will not "change" anything for the better. When the ding-dong pulls out of Iraq, we will be attacked here for having a weak leader, divided nation and the troops disgraced. You people in the lower 48 are really that stupid, to believe what you see and hear on TV. Sarah Palin is NOT what you've been lead to believe by your lying, biased, media friends.
Your nothing but mushrooms, left in the dark and fed BS. Keep on following that rainbow to the pot of gold... no, really, it's there! LOL.

Sadly, a lot of Alaskans are that bad, Palin screwing up is like Bush screwing up, lots of blind followers. America is like Alaska in that regard, but the good thing is that there actually are eneough intelligent people, not ignorant and full of hate, both in and out of Alaska and the rest of America to fix and maintain this wonderful country. This is why so many people are supporting making it rough on the talk shows that talk like this, preaching hate and ignorance.
Wow... I voted for Palin and McCain but I live in one of the lower 48 states. So after getting bashed by the dems. A fellow repub rolls a granade into the room... Maybe that is the REAL reason nothing will change in America. Too many voices and not enough action. I do think that the Dems are going to learn a hard lesson over the next four years. But if they actually succeed well then I will probably be voting to relect someone I don't like, but aggreed with his decisions.
Artic wittness only the iggnorant speak in hate. Kind of like "stupid is as stupid does"
I thought people moved to Alaska to get onto the biggest welfare role in the country and to not pay taxes.
Don't you get paid about $3.3K per a year for every man, woman and child in your family just for living in that frozen sh!thole? No wonder Palin has 5 kids, that works out to about $23K for her family, just for breathing.

Who wouldn't be flattered to be asked to be VP of the U.S.? Of course, after the initial flattery has worn off, can you really do the job? Whoever vetted Sarah Palin needs to take the blame for this entire fiasco. When they were finished PROPERLY assessing her, her shortcomings should have been obvious. I'm not sure if they were trying to "get" the Hilary voters with a woman, add some "youth and beauty" (though that's in the eye of the beholder) or just grab any unknown and try to mold the perfect VP running mate. Either way, reality has set in, and this colossal flop is over.
If Sarah Palin really thinks she can mount a campaign in 2012, she needs to show her grown up side, stop calling people jerks, and bone up on geography, public relations, US trade agreements, names of foreign leaders, update her wardrobe before announcing her candidacy, and keep her nose clean up in Alaska these next few years.
Or, she could just stay home and enjoy being a mother and grandmother, wife of the "first-dude" and governor of Alaska.
- 4 votes
Her indifference to the actual job of day-to-day governing in Alaska is well known. And if you stop and think about it, she wasn't doing much day-to-day mothering of a Down syndrome child who will need adult care all his life.
If her competence were even 10% of her egotism, she'd be truly admirable, but she wants to be Queen of the World without having to do any of the hard work of becoming capable.
- 14 votes
Well if she decides to take a shot in 2012, one of two things will happen.
A. The Republicans will not choose her as their candidate.
B. She'll see what it's like to lose a second time and Obama will easily skate into his second term.
Personally I think it's best if she just stays in Alaska and runs the state with the "first dude". ~G

Jobs lost in 2008: 1.2 million
With 1,179,000 cuts, the economy has lost more than a million jobs in a year for the first time since 2001 - the last time the economy was in a recession. With most economic indicators signaling even more difficult times ahead, job losses will likely deepen and continue through at least the first half of 2009.

Since 2006: The Bush Administration seems on-board with the plan, aiming to increase corporate capital gains in NAFTA markets rather than worrying about the adverse consequences to Mexican low-skilled workers or to the U.S. labor movement that transferring increasing amounts of manufacturing and assembly to China entails.
The clothes issue stinks of denial. All reports I've heard about her and her hubby going on a shopping spree's did not seem like it was a burden to her, it sounded like a kid in a candy store story. Reports of her asking different aids for the use of their credit cards for shopping contradicts what she is now saying. This woman got caught up in a whirlwind experience which fit right into her ambitions and she went full speed ahead. And, as far as her not knowing what Africa was, a country or a continent i can believe after listening to some of her answers to questions that were aired on tv. The comment's she now says were taken out out of content were not publicly discussed so it's her word against the "others" that are in question. It is pretty apparent that Palin has allot of ambition but needs the back up for it which she has shown not to have at the present time. Anyone involved with her in politics would do well to purchase a knife proof vest for they will get stuck sooner or later dealing with her. She scares the hell out of me, Alaska is a nice place for her,,,,to stay.

If one looks at some of the terrifyingly ignorant things she said during the campaign, notably that the VP runs the Senate and makes policy, it is not hard to believe she doesn't know Africa is a continent, or countries in NAFTA. Both she and McCain told blatant lies about Obama, though she was the most mean-spirited. She seems capable of most anything, including clothes sprees.
She is keeping this alive by continuing to respond. People keep responding to her, at least I do, because the thought of her in an office of great responsibitity would be disastrous for our country.
"There's no attorneys" is grammatically incorrect and should be known by a grade school graduate. Who on earth gave her a college degree, when she is incapable of speaking the English language. One indication of intelligence is the ability to speak one's native tongue correctly.

I can't believe your "scared" of Palin. Your another "mushroom" who watches too much TV. NONE of you know what your talking about. Have you been to Alaska? Can you even point it out on a map? You all only know what you've seen on TV and read in liberal mags about Sarah. Odumma BOUGHT OUT THE MEDIA- and you fell for it, line and sinker. Now, to wait and watch you all flop like fish out of water. It won't be long... Obama is already showing nasty intentions, he can't even make a real speech unless it's on a cue card. LOL. You all get what you deserve for being ill-informed air heads. Alaskans are already laughing at you dumbies. What sell outs! If there was a muti-million dollar commercial about me, you would have fallen for it too, lord, help you people get a thinking brain for yourselves. Let me guess, Oprah said so, right?

So where did Obama get all this money? People without any money gave it to him because they believe he is our best choice. I want him to run his office like his campaign, and for him to get even more cooperation. And I am from Alaska. I know Palin, my mom and her eat lunch together, my family from Wasilla. I know that what the media is saying is true, she is like that, and I don't want her to know that I know the truth. I am like a wolf, I hide when she flies around me. Most of my friends, tho not all , agree with me. She begged for the spot, wasn't qualified, and blew it. She is mean, and loves to push people around if they are servants to her, charm them if they are voters, and she does like to shop. No one made her wear those clothes and claim to be just like the common people. She showed her true colors, and their is nothing mean about being aware of it and saying it. Once you get into politics, people HAVE to, and will, judge you. She should never have let people see that side of her. She will need a lot of education if she intends to stay in real politics.
LMAO!! Oprah said so right?... that was a good one, seriously.
I think I am going to have go with JCE-713543's well written piece there Articwaterass. Oh and I have been to Alaska too. I was stationed at Ft. Wainwright (fairbanks) for almost three years. Got out of there as fast as I could. Beautifal territory, just don't want to live there. They had a saying up there as to what is the most poplular thing to do... Get stoned, get drunk, or get religion. So which one are you? I "got deployed" LOL... I am still laughing at the Oprah comment, because I am sure it is true to some extent...
our expectations for the two highest public offices must be very high
niether mccain nor palin meet that criteria given the available choices
it doesnt mean he or she are "bad people" or any other disparaging caricature
all's fair in love war and politics right???
the media is as much to blame as any character deficiency of any candidate
time to move on and work with barrack obama to succeed
our system is very broken right now
thank you for that mr bush
some time behind bars for you is deserved for the thousands upon thousands of peoples lives you have ruined
greed and corruption was rampant in your term
are you proud of that
mccain and palin can only look at you for their demise

From the beginning Palin wanted power for herself, and that scared me.

Some Republicans do NOT get it. They STILL do NOT get it. Palin was (politely put) unqualified...yet she was almost a heartbeat away from the presidency. Many of us, including a lot of moderate Republicans, were scared sh*tless.... Yes, Palin's performances...on live TV for all the world to see...were sickening. What WAS McCain and company thinking? **** Palin 2012 = a second term for Obama.

I quess our expectations for president has really risen to the 10th degree..we expect a god to be in the whitehouse........seems like we have resorted to Greek mythology....well we will see..the world, I hope will watch and question and not take this man blindly as they have up to now!

I hope they do arrest and try Bush for murder. I am sure they will find him guilty if they do. I also hope Obama doesn't pardon him. I hope Stevens wins in Alaska, it is still being counted and is very close, and gets fired and goes to jail. We must bring accountability and law back into this government, and our country. I want the best for me, mine, my state, my country, my fellow citizens and my president. I am so sick of all this hatred, ignorance and meanness. Thats why the country is in so much trouble, it is sick, you see it on here just like you see those wanting and trying to heal it. So are you healer or destroyer?

So what the hell? Bush never murdered anyone. He gave orders and they were followed. Hatred of Bush I think you told us where you stand on that. I too want my Pres Elect to do a good job. I for one am not ranking on him. Because I could There is allot that I don t get CHANGE what does that mean?????? Hope never lost it. So tell my friend where does this go from here?
I am don't think Pres. Bush needs to go to jail for anything. If you are going to try him for war crimes well then you need to take all of the Senators and congressmen too, also send the CEO's of the companies that profitted from the war. Remember you silly angry people the President cannot make a single decision on his own...
Get over it people. Where is all this anger coming from? Governor Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air in an increasingly ugly media. Notice this was a New York Times headline? I watched the whole interview and not once did I hear the Governor of Alaska call anyone a jerk. And stop reporting as facts criticisms from "unnamed sources". They're just covering their own butts, their own failures. Governor Sarah Palin is a rising star for the GOP, as well she should be. She stands for everything that the Republican party used to stand for, and needs to go back to if they want to have a hope of regaining what they've lost.

Personally, I want my president and vice president---of either party---to have a certain level of intelligence and common sense. McCain, Biden, and Obama (IMHO) qualified....but Palin missed the mark. Big time. *********** This has NOTHING to do with party affiliation and everything to do with love of America. *********** The woman is NOT capable and it shows.
I listened to her Couric interview again last night...and I cringed. She was that bad...that unknowlegeable and out of her league.

Shes the type of person (and bush) that made me stop being a republican, though I guess I was never a verry good one in the first place. I took the "small government" idea in a more libertarian light and aren't a christian.
Either way even the possibility of a Palin regime, along with what she might do simply horrifies and disgusts me.

I agree that Palin is the best that the Republican Party has to offer.
I hope the Republican right wing zealots rally behind her and keep her as their standard bearer for years to come. That is almost like insurance for the Democratic Party continuing in power for an additional 4 to 8 years.

Sorry, but she did call them jerks, plain as day. Go back and watch the interview again.
Palin's record of vendettas, tax-wasting expenditures, pork-barrel campaigning, and false statements are easy to verify. Her latest defense of her clothing bill -- that all her clothes were sent back -- makes no sense. Since when do you buy clothes, wear them for two months, and then send them back to the retailer to get your money back? As for saying her statements were "taken out of context," all you have to do is listen to her Gibson and Couric interviews to know that the allegations must be true, because her ignorance of issues and facts could be seen in those interviews.
Having said all that, isn't there a moderator for this forum? One of Palin's defenders on this site uses the most vile language. There is no excuse for posting that kind of stuff.

For those of you who assumed "change."
I realize that there are a lot of people who are bitter about the election, and some just need to vent. But what I don't understand is why people want Pres. Elect Obama to fail. It's our country at stake, and we need success, no matter who is president. So when you wish for him to fail, you're really wishing for our country to fail. Time to put aside the pettiness on both sides and get to work trying to fix this mess we're in!

Palin was grossly under qualified to be VP. I keep hearing about her being the future of the Republican party. If she is the future of anything on the national political front we are all in much more trouble than we realize.
Can you imagine Palin sitting down with leaders from Israel, Russia, N. Korea or China to represent the American people? I'm sure she is a nice person and all but please, she was in over her head and always will be on the national political scene.
- 15 votes
"Palin was grossly under qualified to be VP"...Please...Obama met minimum requirements to be a Presidential candidate....he met the age requirement and was born in the USA. I believe ACORN community organizer was on his resume....not something I would be I would be proud of.

Obama...no matter what else you think of him...can put together proper English sentences. He can answer questions. He knows what he is talking about. You can hate him and what he stands for, but he can take care of himself. ******************* The rest of us are NOT anti-Palin because she is a Republican....but anti-incompetence and against somebody so "stupid" that could have been a heartbeat away from the presidency.
I do NOT agree with McCain's politics...BUT I will be the first to admit that he would probably have made a reasonably qualified, competent, and more moderate Republican American president. I could have accepted him without gagging and pulled together with the Republicans as an American who loves her country. But dimwit Palin? You betcha...NOT!

My point is that Barack Obama is imminently more qualified than Sarah Palin - so is George W. Bush for that matter.
What's yours?
There were gaffs on both sides of the aisle. I won't go through the litany of he said, she said. Had I been Sarah I simply would have said in public; The aides were unprofessional and it would be unprofessional of me to give them credence by discussing them.Never give the enemy ammunition to use now or later.
Should Sarah make a run in the next election she will have 4 years to prepare. She now knows or should, what is involved in this game we call national politics. For now take a page from McCain and get back to the job at hand.
Barak I don't like you, or your policies, but to wish you ill or hope you stumble would only mean I wish for my country to falter. Like McCain my country does come first. There will be dark days ahead, you will be tested by those who do not love our country. You are intelligent, but that alone is not enough. May God guide you with wisdom and temperance to face our toughest challenges yet to come in leading OUR country.

I find this discussion so ironic. She is striking back because someone said she is ignorant?? Does she remember all the things that she screamed at her rallies about Obama. That people were allowed to scream out threats towards Obama after her incendiary comments..."he palls around with terrorist". Bottomline...the "mavericks" deserved each other. It wasn't dems verses republicans...it was a man of class...and principals against two "class-less" mavericks. I'm so proud of the American people.

She turely was not qualified for the position even I could see that as a Republician.
A prime example of why it would be difficult for your average American to ever get into politics. What everyone wants is a "Perfect" person hanging on every word-Born without falt Filling everyone with impossible promises-
If someone asked you to help them attempt to deal with corruption in Washington-would you accept??

After 8 long years, all we want is coherent sentences. Is that too much to ask?
And as far as the good Govenor's passive-agressive behavior goes, we do not fear it, or misunderstand it. Passive-aggressives, no matter where they come from, are all basically the same. And very predictable.
So BFD, America caught her doing the passive-aggressive dance, and y'all weeping and wailing, blaming the media because she got outed.
In regards to your throw-away question: Yes, I'd take it, but, I wouldn't be whining in public that those big meanies weren't being nice to me, lol. Change hurts. It goes with the turf. Don't go, if you cannot stand the return fire. Just stop whining for frack's sakes. You cannot reform anything, if you also want everybody to love you. They won't, whoevers' interests you attack, will come back at you for blood. Toughen up your skin. Just stop whining. Damn.... Big meanies were mean to me. WAAAAAAAA.
Every real reformer or change agent already knows this. That's one of the many ways we knew she was a poser. Sorry, but you cannot fake it.
What did you expect? That they would greet you with open arms and welcome you as their liberator, showering you with flowers? Oh, sorry, wrong meme, lol.

I think thou (Paless) protesth too much. Sort of like the kettle calling the pot black when she calls others jerks. Her 15 minutes of fame are over, now she should settle down and take care of Trig. Remember him? Her special needs child, he no longer will have to endure being up past his bed time, can sleep in his own crib. But, most of all, will no longer be carried around like a sack of potatoes and passed around like a toy. Good mother indeed, she put her selfish hopes ahead of her own family including her very pregnant daughter, Bristol. She too, could have used a little motherly love and caring for. Oh well, she is North to Alaska, it is now up to them to listen to her murdering of the English language and BS. Most of all find out what she swept under the carpet before she left affecting Alaska. You betcha. wink, wink.

twobees,
do you have kids? complain about trig being up after bedtime. If that's important, I remember two little girls up after bedtime on election night. they were up after bedtime the night pe obama made his acceptance speech.
If you have something to say, say it, don't just come here and talk.
- 2 votes
JRT, yes, I certainly do have children, three, 6 grandchildren and 1 g/grandson. My comment about Trig is because he is a special needs baby and should have a regular bed time and schedule. Should not be dragged around being exposed to strangers who may have God knows what type of diseases. Obama's daughters are much older and am sure they have a later bed time and are not Down Syndrome children. I did say it and didn't just come to talk, although it seems freedom of speech is something you do not believe in except for yourself. As for my children, when they were younger they were in bed at a decent hour, likewise, my grandchildren. And thank's be to God they were all born healthy and not medically challenged. I am blessed. Thank you for allowing me to speak.

These people that support McCain, the voters that McCain calls his base, the core of his constituents, are those same folks who after learning that Obama was elected, are crowding gun shops to buy assault weapons and other guns. This is the core of the McCain campaign and they are a mirror of the McCain-Palin and Bush-Cheney political philosophy, a philosophy I call "Cowboy Politics". This is a politics that like the free cowboys and pioneers of old, distrusted the big bad government in the East. They wanted the government to stay out of their lives. They hated taxes and wanted everyone in the country to be as self-reliant and independent as they were. They didn't want to pay taxes, even to support programs for the common good, including schools, hospitals, and programs for strangers they never met. A logical outgrowth of Cowboy Politics is "Cowboy Economics", a philosophy that is based on the idea that government should not regulate trade. Cowboys don't like being told how to make a profit. Inextricably tied to the Cowboy philosophy is "Cowboy Foreign Policy". This is a philosophy that says "If you're not my friend, you're my enemy". In Cowboy Foreign Policy, like the overall Cowboy Philosophy, there are distinct enemies and friends, good guys and bad guys, just like the old Western movies of (dare I say it?) Ronald Reagan, and the TV Westerns of the 1950s and 60s. In Cowboy Foreign Policy, like Cowboy Philosophy, evil must always be confronted at all costs, blood or money, until there is some satisfying, but ill-defined, "victory". Just take a look at the make-up of the Bush Administration and the McCain-Palin Campaign. Bush from Texas, Cheney from Wyoming, McCain from Arizona, and Palin from Alaska. Note the words that Palin uses like "cowardly". And it is this Cowboy Philosophy that is responsible for the mess this country is in now.

If you study history or know anything about history you would know that the least popular presidents of their time are now looked at as the most brilliant insightful presidents...to namme a few.... Lincoln, Roosevelt, Reagan....and the most popular presidents of their time have been seen as weak and a do nothing presidents ..namely..Johnson, Carter and Clinton...

A note to McCain and Palin. "If you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas." Since Palin and McCain implied that Obama was a Muslim and a terrorist when they knew very well he was neither I don't have a lot of sympathy if they or their supporters call each other names true or otherwise. The only thing that held the Republicans together was their violent hatred of Democrats. Actions have consequences.

Your comment ".... Calling names true or otherwise." An over polite man is usually hiding some mighty impolite ideas. What's wrong with calling a spade a spade? The truth doesn't always come dressed for dinner.
I love seeing the Republican party bicker, finger-point and basically self-destruct. It's obvious these immature jerks were not qualified to run this country during this important and dangerous period in our history. All of this post-election noise is for naught, anyway. The time of death for the GOP was 11/4/08 at approx. 11 p.m. EST. Sarah baby...if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. You looked like a fool with K. Couric and decided not to sit down with any other major journalists...you spouted off at the mouth with hatred and bitterness from Day One...you were a joke from the very start...no matter what brand or label you put on your back you will never erase your image as a bumbling idiot, certainly not fit for a national office and barely qualified for being Gov. of Alaska. "Stalanist jerk" Where do you get that from Mike S.'s post? I assume that when you refer to the messiah, you are referring to Jesus Christ, because no one, other than stupid Republicans, have been referring to Mr. Obama in that way.
We have had 8 years and more of unfettered Capitalism as carried out by the Republicans - and we can see what a success that has been. Perhaps some socialism might be beneficial to the majority of the citizens of this once fine country.
Call me dumb, but I, as a German, don't understand what all this fear about socialism is. The German SPD party stands for "social political party" and the CSU stands for "christian social party". Does that make Germany a communist country?
Well, I lived there for 39 years and was allowed to speak my mind and do anything (non criminal) I wanted to do. Also, there I have never experienced the kind of hate I have seen here in the US. So, please, don't confuse socialism with communism.
Correction! SPD = Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands = social democtratic party of Germany. CSU = Christlich-Soziale Union = christian social union.
Farrakhan, not a republican, referred to him as the messiah long ago with the big O's followers fainting in the streets. Get used to it Libs, we are going to pay you guys back in spades for all the "not our president" crap you gave us over the last eight years.I see now that anybody who dares criticize the anointed one will be labeled a racist, how nice....And please dont get me started on the cradle to grave socialism of western Europe, there is a reason we are a hyperpower and you are not(well, at least we used to be...)

regarding Post#23.7
You right wing nut jobs with your "fair and balanced" NeoCon odjectives crack me up it is hard to believe there could be people as stupid as you on the planet until I saw your Poster Child-Sarah Palin. You are the same crowd that says "Remember 911" when referring to the Iraq War when even your Moronic Commander in chief admits there was no connection.
I notice you referrenced the FAKE video that one of the GOP bots was plastering all over the vine election day. You bore me. Try something new, here is some ideas:
Obama wants us all to eat unborn babies, but only the christian ones because the Islamic ones taste funny.
Obama was responsible for the attack on Pearl Harbor and helped navigate the one of the planes that struck the WTC.
Obama wants to enslave the white population for 100 yeasr.
And my favorite Obama has strong ties to Acme, the very same company that has brought sooo much greif to Wile E. Coyote, a true american hero.
After eight years of "You are either with us or you are with the terrorist" crap, I am fed up with you and your parties BS. This is our time now and you are irrelevant.

Cheyenne, 39 years? How was it back before that big wall came down? Did everyone in Germany feel as safe and free as you did back then? You say everyone was okay as long as they did non-criminal things. Who got to decide what was criminal? I'm guessing then that you never had the desire to read a bible -because that would have been criminal. Oh yeah, do you remember who was in office here when the wall came down?
No thanks to socialism, or its twin sisters, liberalism and communism.
- 3 votes
average mom,
wow....so that is how Republicans twist and turn everything in order to avoid the truth. Still, I'm going to answer your questions.
It seems to me that you confuse West Germany with East Germany which, by the way, was called "DDR = Deutsche Demokratische Republik = German Democratic Republic". So, East Germany was called democratic although it really was communistic. When the people from East Germany came to West Germany for the very first time, they couldn't believe the wealth we had and thought it was all fake. In fact, they had never seen anything like it.
Yes, everyone felt safe and free in West Germany.
"Who got to decide waht was criminal?" What kind of question is that? Of course the law, just like here in the US.
Why would you guess that I never read the bible? I lived near Munich/Bavaria (which is in the southeast part of Germany) and most people there, including myself, are catholics. The political party there is called CSU = christian social union and is a sister party of the CDU = christian democratic union which represents the rest of the country.
Again, you are confusing former East Germany with former West Germany by saying that it would have been criminal to read the bible.
Makes me wonder where you get your informations from. Oh, and I'm a woman, too.
Yeah the Republicans are acting like a bunch of whiney babies now -- pointing fingers everywhere but in the direction they should be pointing. This behavior will probably continue for the next 8 years -- actually it never stopped - that's why Bush has not had to answer for ANYTHING he has done YET - they're now blaming Clinton for the economic crisis and for 9-11. This is precisely why I will never vote for one of them, and they wonder why the word "CHANGE" was so attractive. Almost any change is better than them. I'm tired of lining the billfolds of fat, rich, old white men with my hard-earned dollars. I'm a middle-aged white lady, by the way.
You libs talk with hate and anger. It is unbelievable how you try to make this hate and anger the Conservatives fault. You should take time to act a little more civil. To disrespect our president is unamerican.
For how intelligent you try to sound it amazes me how your statements usually lack any logical merit.
Don't you need to be in California turning over cars because gays can't marry there anymore?
- 1 vote
To disrespect our president is unamerican? Who says so? He's a retard. Admit it. He can't even speak without stumbling over the big words. I never voted for him. Did you? Thanks a lot. Act civil? What is uncivil about criticizing the bumbling idiots who have been "leading" us for 8 years? I think it's our civic duty to speak out and to refuse to be silenced. In case you didn't know it - it's still a free country and if you don't like my comments why don't you just ignore them? What exactly is illogical about my statement? If you're going to make direct comments like that you should at least be specific. I must have touched a raw nerve with you somewhere. BTW - I'm not angry - I'm elated that we will not be under the Republicans anymore.

Cheyenne, I am of German decent, my Grandfather left Germany and a wealthy family at 14 because he wanted to be an American and because he believed in Democracy. He fought his own brother in WWl. He went on to become a captain in the US Navy. He was never a hyphenated American. He never believed in socialism. He believed you earned your way. I have friends in Germany who hate socialism as much as they hated Nazism.
You say you never saw such hate as you have here. You were fortunate you did not grow up during or right after WWll nor were you an East German.
If you think socialism is so great why did you leave the fatherland?
- 3 votes
Jo,
As to why I left Germany (which I don't call "fatherland"!!) I fell in love with an American and married him.
I, too, believe that you have to EARN your way which was my experience in Germany, and I'm absolutely against Nazism.
My point here is that the major German parties have the word socialism in it while former East Germany was called democratic. Do you see what I'm trying to say? Again, socialism is NOT communism.
It is amazing and also shocking how some Americans can believe that Germany is a communist country.
I have to agree with JCE's comment and I won't come back to this site, way too much crap.
Cheyenne, You didn't specify what part of Germany you were from, but were talking about how wonderful socialism has been there for the past 39 years. It was my point that for the East Germans, life pretty much sucked prior to 1989, and is still pretty rough. Yes, East Germany was Communist, and yes most leaders use the term "Democratic" to sell that to the people on their way down that slippery slope.
Germany does have a lot to be proud of, as people on both sides of the Wall bravely rose up to defeat Communism. But, they had to acknowledge there was something to defeat. Germany, west more than east, has developed a thriving economy and military -but it is not due to socialism. West Germany was socialist, but after the unification, isn't Germany a Republic now? Similar to ours but much more liberal? Even so, the poverty rate and unemployment in the eastern portion is still (20 years later) much higher than the west. So again, it's maybe not the ideal either. BTW, the presence of our military bases not only has been a huge stimulus to your economy, but also your national security -which allows Germans to spend more money on their own infrastructure.
I am truely sorry that you have seen bitterness and hatred here. Sadly, there are a few wackos everywhere -especially on these posts -but for the most part we are a wonderful country of unlimited opportunity that many of us defend out of love and respect, not fear. The beauty is that we are free to disagree, but the reality is that some do not have the dignity to do it appropriately. Welcome to the USA.
OK Cheyenne, I was being snide I know it's not the fatherland any longer. I am well aware of the differences between Nazism, Communism, and Socialism. I know what a Democratic Republic is. It is how we have built the USA upon.
Because of the corrupt greed of evil selfish people has been allowed does not mean we disavow what has worked very well for the US when applied correctly. We are not Germans, British, Canadians etc... who follow the doctrine of a socialistic country. Re-distributing wealth is not the answer, creating opportunity for acquiring an honest living and honest wealth is. It's not Democracy that isn't working it's the government not doing the job it is handsomely paid to do.
Every man in my family has served our country, many who wish to be considered leaders in this great country have not. They have served themselves. We have been enablers by electing and re-electing the dolts. I have served in public office and turned down my salary. I believe as George Washington did; you serve for the honor, do your job, and then return to private life.
I harbor no animosity to legal citizens who work hard, pay their taxes and take care of their families; only to those who want to suck off them. Socialism is the first step in that downward spiral.

You didn't touch anything with me. Idiotic people like you never upset me. I did make a specific comment. Looks like you are the one that is emotional. Your right it is a free country - which means I get to make my comments too. The freedom to speak out does not stop when a liberal stops talking -I know you thought it did, sorry.
Yes you are very disrespectful to our President - you have very little if any understanding of how difficult a job that is to do. A job that you would stand zero chance of doing, but of course you have all the answers from you little desk with an internet connection.
We will now see what OBAMA can do. We know what he said. We know what he said does not match with what he has done in his past. They say that the office can make the man. I hope that is true in this case.
Listening and reading the feedback, Parlin did great considering. She is simply up front and honest and this is what some people did not want. She was no pupet for anyone. She was a fantastic Choice for VP.
- 7 votes
She can't answer questions...she can't put together an understandable sentence. Is THAT being up front and honest? Tell me, what did she REALLY say on anything? The economy and bailout, McCain's voting record, foreign affairs.... I will be decent and willing to listen if anybody can tell me HER positions on vital issues...using archived videos of her saying them in her own words....
- 4 votes
And I thought it was my bad English that I couldn't understand what Palin was talking about.
Cheyenne no she spoke a language all her own....and only a 'select' few could understand it.
Rest of us heard nothing but maddening, frustrating, AHA, jibberish
GoldenGateMami_Susi,
Thank you. Already considered taking English classes ;)
Disgusting! leave the lady alone...who knows for sure it all came from the
McCain's campaign? could it not be from the obama's side? it does
sound like "them"... he-he!

Bull! She may be female but she doesn't act like a lady. She also asked for the attention when she agreed to run as VP; she basked in it. And don't blame Obama's side, they ran a much cleaner campaign than did the Repubs.
She came across from the beginning as a clueless dimbulb; Gee, what does the VP do? She was (is) an embarrasment to any intelligent American. And don't question my patriotism, you might get both barrels.
The angry Repubs may want to listen to McCain and back our president. His concession speech brought him back some much-needed respect; his backers should take heed.
Our country is in a cluster-situation and we need to go in a new direction. Good luck Mr. Obama; do well. Bill Tobin

Mary Miami's comment is the typical "denial of reality" thinking by right wing knee jerk Republicans. If there is a problem, try to blame the Democrats or the "liberals" or the "media" rather than look at the objective evidence. They are the types that stole something or broke something when they were in school then blamed someone else. This is why they don't ever seem to "get it." Good joke, except that this is unfortunately how they think...

Nei mary don't go there. This story comes from one of the magazines (New York Times) maybe, they're journalists were allowed to tag along as long as they didn't report everything till after the election, there's already a book out I think.

Would it make you feel better if it also came from Fox, which it did? But, let's let the woman leave. I am tired of hearing about her. I agree with the other poster. Both Obama and McCain have asked that we become united in overcoming our current problems.
No one on the McCain campaign staff has even hinted it wasn't one of their own. They know who said it and they know its true. There are several sources for the Diva behavior, not just this story. All narcissistic people are a thread away from being sociopaths. Sarah Palin is just that thread away. Before you all go ballistic look up sociopath, I'm not calling her a serial killer.
This is old news, and hopefully it will stay that way and we have seen the last of Sarah Palin in national elections.
You sound like you have the inside scoop on everything! Maybe you should make the news and disclose those nameless insiders!
All Presidential hopefuls are narcissistic, you should look that up. However, most are not pathalogical liars a thread away from being sociopaths, as I surmise you must be.
Looks to me like Palin isn't as thick skinned as she tries to portray herself as being. I am so glad she's back in Alaska where she belongs. She strikes me as the snobby little cutie pie in high school, that thinks her sh*t don't stink. And saying her administration and McCain administration were getting along just fine is far from the truth. McCain knows he f*cked up with his VP choice, and it just backfired in his face is all. With the RNC going to Alaska to take inventory, I lay odds Palin finds herself in a heap of trouble. I think a charge of embezzlement might be in her very near future, from both the RNC and the state of Alaska. I also lay odds she probably won't be reelected as governor.

You are so wrong. Alaska is glad to have our govenor home and here looking out for her fellow Alaskans. Actually we know what happened, so keep spewing what you have seen on TV and in liberal mags. Alaska is laughing at you. We now know, that you down there know, Alaska is actually a part of the USA! Guess, what? We don't live in igloos or drive dog teams to work! WOW! I bet most of you can't even point it out on a map! Well, mabey now, thanks to Sarah!
You have all been mis-lead and ill-informed about who and what Sarah Palin is and stands for. She cleaned most of the criminals out while in service to the people of Alaska, this did not sit well with most politicians here, or in Washington. (GO figure)
Sold down the road by a man who bought you line and sinker, through the media. Sound like Hitler? You all get what you deserve! Don't wonder why Alaska has a HUGE Independent Party. We would like to separate ourselves from the likes of weaklings and commercial sell-outs. Sarah would have never been a puppet for anyone, tells it like it is and is for the people's interest. Most Americans can't hack that in a person, especially from a strong Alaskan woman. Or rather, any woman. Look what happened to Hillary! Sarah Palin is a good person at heart, it is unfotunate what has happened to her. The media is nothing but a puppet for the top paying handout. You ding-dongs fell for it! -and still can't see strait.
You are terrible people, full of yourselves, who bash Sarah. She is actually a very funny and light hearted person, if you don't take her words out of context and twist it into what you want others to believe it is. The media got nowhere here when they arrived in Alaska and they were treated badly. They rebelled against Sarah for the treatment they recieved from Alaskans, who they were asking 50,000 dollars for any BAD info on Sarah, her KIDS and Husband. Alaskans threw them out on thier dumb arses and they were hurt, as it cost them $$ to get here and get NOTHING. We actually threw out more than one idiot reporter and crew asking for negative information, then laughed at them through the windows. (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE YOU MORONS) I'd like to see those idiots come back here now. They wouldn't make it 5 yards. They are more than JERKS, they were and are ARSEWHOLES!!! Time for an "Alaskan fishing trip", with our special custom made concrete halibut boots, all media is invited for free! Do America a favor and sign up today.

Artic,
You know more about what really happened than the rest of the haters on this page. I support Ms. Palin and am horrified at the treatment she is getting from the lower 48. Especially the women down here.
You tell her for me...........You go girl!
